Cancer & School.....wtc

Sat Aug 29, 2009, 8:43 AM
Hello dear friends. Yep, been over a month since I updated my journal, lol. But things have been pretty....well....rough lately, like a double edged sword. Its been good and bad.

Bad news: Last week, we had to take my nanny to Lexington to the clinic. we found out, that my nanny has Breast Cancer. She had an full body MRI, theres no cancer any where else, thank God, but more tests proved pretty bad. The breast cancer she has is already a stage 3, most aggressive and quickly spreading.
Next wednesday, she is scheduled for surgery to have the egg sized tumor taken out.
Then she is set for Radiation and more than likely, because of the cancer's aggression, she will have to have Chemotherapy too. Nanny is in for a really tough time. But she is very strong and stubborn. She said she'd fight it and win, that she wont give up till its over. And I know she wont, plus she has all of our support too. We're all in it together.

Any of you on DA who has had cancer or known someone that has, We are part of a tough group; its sad, emotional, painful, but also good, rewarding, supportive. I now understand what many people feel when they talk about cancer. Its going to be hard, but we are gonna make it.

In other news. I'm a College Student now :wow: I started my first semester as a Freshman at the University of the Cumberlands! A 16 hr busy morning schedule, classes start at 8:00 sharp in the morning, so I get up at 6:00 to get ready and drive down there....I'm a commuter, lol. Things are so much different in college compared to high schoo. I do enjoy the freedom but wow, you're on your own with assignments, although, I do enjoy my Prof. They are all nice and helpful, and do seem interested in there student.

I'm double majoring in Psychology and Art, with the exception of taking some general required classes I already have 3 classes that are a part of my major. The good thing is they also count as required ed. too, Yay. Man its expensive though. I had to buy an art pack, containing all the materials I needed for my Drawing Course...$117.76!!!!! Then I didnt get my algebre book so I had to buy one that was new....$123.95!!!!!! :wtf: Jeeze. Plus, I dont have a vehicle on campus so I have to walk everywhere....thats a lot of walking, but its fun, relaxing and good excersize.

I think too, I may join one of the Varsity Sports. I'm really looking into the Women's Wrestling team. :lmao: I know it probably sounds odd but its pretty fun from what I can tell, practices are only 2 hrs a day, which I could handle, and the coach is very nice and helpful. He seemed very supportive of my idea and offered any help he could give me.

So, I gotta figure out for sure if I want to be on the team, then do the paper work, get a physical, set up insurance, break the news to my boss, re-do my work schedule to probably only weekends, which I hope wont cause any problems......buh, and go from there. ...I am so busy.

:star: oh and things are going absolutely amazing with my boyfriend. We are SO close and if we can, spend a lot of time together. He's helped me so much. When I found out about my nanny, he was so carring. I fell apart on him, started crying like a baby, he just held me and said it was okay, we'd get through it. He's been so amazing, I love having him in my life!!!!!!!

:bulletblue:
So overall, these past few weeks have been rough and tough, but we'll get through them. I will deffinetly post more about college and my crazy life so far in the next while. Dont thing there will be much art of photos for a while though.....sadly.

I'm so sorry about your nanny! My grandma had cancer, so I know what you're going through! I hope her surgery goes really well!!

College! Yay! Sounds like it's going well! It is expensive though, I hear you. I spent $400 on books one semester. It pays to get them used.

Aww, I'm so glad to hear about you and your boyfriend!

Good luck with college and my prayers and thoughts are with you and your nanny!!

Tis okay, I appreciate the support and hope!!!! It means a lot.
Her surgery went great, everything went great and the surrounding tissue and lymphnodes were not affected!!!! :)

College Woohoo, deffinetly a different experience. I know, I spent 399.00 on used books and 127.76 on a new one and 117.00 on an art kit for Drawing class.........BUH....

Yes, he is awesome, other than just being really busy I cant complain about him, I dont get to spend as much time with him as I want with school and work and all, but that just makes our time together even more special!!!!

Thank you so much  for all your support, hope and prayer, we really need it!!!!

Thank hun. its relly cool. For real.

Tis okay. I think she will be, she's stubborn and is very positive about this which is a lot of the battle really. I know you do, its so sad, but it does make for understanding people who care, like you. Its very emotionall, my mommy pretty much lost it, she's doing better, I lost it once, with Aaron, my bf. He lost his grandfather to cancer, so he was very supportive.....but then I kinda went numb to it all, which actually made things a little easier...
I wil do, she will appreciate it.

I didnt have any sugar cubes, but I gave him an apple and carrot treats~!!!!
